Why did I see this Movie: Coz this world has been waiting for a 150 million years to see this flick.
Critique: A good film is one that is long remembered after you see it. This then is one of the greatest ones ever made. Even a day after seeing the film I am still mesmerized by the wonder and monumental achievement that is THE DARK KNIGHT. Not once it the past few years have I seen a picture that was as satisfying as this one.
Lot has changed in the Nolan’s Batman universe since the last time we visited it. There is Harvey dent, who has being doing the same work as batman but as the new DA. He is called “The White Knight’ by the press and police. He is on the verge of a major victory against the mob. Even Batman thinks time is right for him to retire (retire??????). But then there comes a trump card. A Joker Card. Joker comes to town and offers his services to the Mob. His services? Destruction and terror of course. Now it’s up to the Dark knight, the white knight and Lt Gordon to put their heads together to stop the maniac.
The script is the reason why this film stands out. The Nolans have created a batman who is not just a man behind a mask. This Batman represents everything good in men. This Batman shows what it takes to be a real hero who doesn’t bend, doesn’t run or hesitant to take tough decisions. This Batman is real. He is the greatest superhero to hit the movie screens. EVER.
Same can said about Joker. Again in Joker the Nolans represent everything evil that we see today. Killing people on television, creating bomb treats and literally creating fear in the heart of the commoner. I felt Joker was a synonym for the modern day terrorist, not just a comic book villain.
Everyone in the cast did a wonderful job. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent gives an astonishing performance. His transformation into two face and the consequent sequences are as good as it gets. Gary Oldman was brilliant here as Lt Gordon. He has lot more to do this around and proves once again that he is a great actor. Michael Caine as Alfred once again get a lot of brilliant one liners. Morgan Freeman returns as Mr. Fox, acts as Q for Batman. Maggie as Ms Dawn is a good casting, although they could’ve been contempt with Katie Holmes.
Technically this is a legend. The cinematography is quite extraordinary, especially in the long shot and chase sequences. The action sequences are complex and enthralling. The sequence involving the Bat Pod is extraordinary and shot brilliantly.
The End: TRUE MASTERPIECE
Rating: 10 /10
