Kay's Review: The Dark Knight

Why did I see this Movie: Coz this world has been waiting for a 150 million years to see this flick.

Critique: A good film is one that is long remembered after you see it. This then is one of the greatest ones ever made. Even a day after seeing the film I am still mesmerized by the wonder and monumental achievement that is THE DARK KNIGHT. Not once it the past few years have I seen a picture that was as satisfying as this one.

Lot has changed in the Nolan’s Batman universe since the last time we visited it. There is Harvey dent, who has being doing the same work as batman but as the new DA. He is called “The White Knight’ by the press and police. He is on the verge of a major victory against the mob. Even Batman thinks time is right for him to retire (retire??????). But then there comes a trump card. A Joker Card. Joker comes to town and offers his services to the Mob. His services? Destruction and terror of course. Now it’s up to the Dark knight, the white knight and Lt Gordon to put their heads together to stop the maniac.

The script is the reason why this film stands out. The Nolans have created a batman who is not just a man behind a mask. This Batman represents everything good in men. This Batman shows what it takes to be a real hero who doesn’t bend, doesn’t run or hesitant to take tough decisions. This Batman is real. He is the greatest superhero to hit the movie screens. EVER.

Same can said about Joker. Again in Joker the Nolans represent everything evil that we see today. Killing people on television, creating bomb treats and literally creating fear in the heart of the commoner. I felt Joker was a synonym for the modern day terrorist, not just a comic book villain.

Everyone in the cast did a wonderful job. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent gives an astonishing performance. His transformation into two face and the consequent sequences are as good as it gets. Gary Oldman was brilliant here as Lt Gordon. He has lot more to do this around and proves once again that he is a great actor. Michael Caine as Alfred once again get a lot of brilliant one liners. Morgan Freeman returns as Mr. Fox, acts as Q for Batman. Maggie as Ms Dawn is a good casting, although they could’ve been contempt with Katie Holmes.

Technically this is a legend. The cinematography is quite extraordinary, especially in the long shot and chase sequences. The action sequences are complex and enthralling. The sequence involving the Bat Pod is extraordinary and shot brilliantly.

The End: TRUE MASTERPIECE

Rating: 10 /10

REVIEW: THE DARK KNIGHT

"You'll either die as a hero or live long enough to see yourself as a villain..."
- Harvey Dent

"This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. "
- The Joker

"Mix these two concepts into the same movie and you get the one of the greatest movie of all time"
- V (yup... it's me)

This is perhaps the most complex and accomplished super hero movie that I’ve seen so far. Darker than batman begins this movie tells the story of Bruce Wayne and his other life as the caped crusader “THE BATMAN" and how batman is pushed to the limit of almost breaking the only rule that he has. And the guy pushing batman is perhaps the most horrifying and the scariest villain of our time "THE JOKER". The Joker doesn't wanna kill batman instead he thinks that the batman completes him.

I am sure that everyone reading this review already knows more about the plot of THE DARK KNIGHT than what I could write without spoilers. Let me just say that it is a pleasure watching this movie. This movie had unprecedented internet and media buzz than any other movie. So even a single mistake in any field of the movie would’ve disappointed us but fortunately I don’t feel that there is a single thing that I didn’t like about this movie. Actually I should say that the movie actually surpassed all my huge expectations (I still don’t know how Christopher Nolan managed to do so!!)

Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine are some of the guys retained from Batman begins. Needless to say they fit their respective roles to the best. Maggie Gyllenhall replaces Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes. She plays the love interest of Harvey Dent and also Bruce Wayne. Although I like Katie Holmes more than Maggie, I cannot say Katie was better because Maggie did perform her role with great ease. This leaves us with the three main characters of the film to write about. Harvey Dent, Batman and The Joker.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent ‘ The White Knight ‘ of Gotham city is astonishing. His characterization is outstanding as both Harvey the D.A and as Harvey two-face. Honestly I’ve never noticed this guy before but man did he get my attention in this movie or what? Great work man.

Poor Christian Bale is the unsung hero of this film. The Guy excels as the rich Bruce Wayne and as the Caped Crusader. I can easily say that this guy is the best BATMAN. Bale expresses all the battle going on inside his mind quite clearly and that is what the whole movie is about. Unfortunately for him, his performance is completely over-shadowed by The Joker.

Heath Ledger as the Joker is a revelation. Scary as hell Joker is someone you should see to believe. Heath Ledger performs this role with such elegance it makes Jack Nicholson of the original Batman movie look like a villain of some animated kids’ flick. Heath’s performance is going to haunt you even long after you’ve left the movie hall. His walk, licking the lips, dialogues everything is amazing. One would run out of adjectives describing his performance. Too sad he is not here to enjoy all the praise he’s getting.

The stunts of the movie are outstanding too just like all other aspects of this movie. Watch out for Batman jumping from the top of the Hong kong building or flipping joker’s truck. Simply awesome. Visually the film is amazing. I’ve never seen such a beautiful Gotham city.

Christopher Nolan, what can I say about him. After The Following, Memento, Insomnia, The prestige, batman begins and now TDK I wonder whether he’ll ever do something that is uninteresting. This is not an ordinary super hero film. It is much more serious, complex, dark and powerful. All credits go to Nolan for making this brave attempt. Nolan packs this movie with lot of shocks. He has shot all the sequences with such élan that one should see to believe. Not even a single scene was uninteresting for the entire 2 ½ hrs.

What am I trying to say?? This is the best super hero movie that I’ve seen and also one of the best movie of all time according to me. Everyone should try this movie at least once. When I walked out of the movie hall I didn’t ask myself whether I liked this movie… because I knew that I loved it. So I asked myself how many times will I see it? And the answer is at least 10.

P.S: I expected this movie so much that I wondered what I would do after seeing it… will anything else interest me??? Then I realized that something would eventually interest me until then I can just keep watching this masterpiece again and again!!!

“LETS PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE”

RATING: 10/10

P.S 2: In the 1989 BATMAN, Jack Nicholson asks “What crazy world are we living in where a man likes to dress himself as a bat?” Yes Jack, it is a crazy world. A crazy world without rules. THE JOKER’S WORLD

REVIEW : WANTED

Wesley Gibson: SO…. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY???

I am so glad Mr. Gibson asked this in the last shot of the movie because I had no clue how to start this review but now I can start the review by just answering him. So what did I do lately? Let me think …oh I remember I saw a movie in which about 100 people get killed (or should I say assassinated?) gruesomely, people slow things down so that they can see it clearly, people swing the trajectory of a bullet , people hate the concept of bulletproof so they don’t use it… they rather shoot at the bullet coming towards them, oh yeah… I forgot…Mrs.Pitt driving – killing- shooting- jumping etc.

So who is Mr. Gibson? Well Mr. Wesley Gibson is the main character of this movie. What is the plot of this movie?? A group of weavers form a secret society thousands of years back calling themselves ‘THE FRATERNITY’ . They are assassins who kill people who’s name comes out of cloth they weave. Gibson who hates his life (bad boss , close friend who sleeps with his girlfriend etc) is brought into this group and trained to kill the man who killed his father [supposedly greatest assassin ever]. But later he realizes that there is something deeper to this and nothing is what it seems! We can also simply say that this movie is about a man and his destiny or about a man who has no control over his life learns to take control.

We can make whatever plot we need out of this movie… why? At the end of the day this movie is not about the plot it is about the heart stopping action sequences. This belongs to ‘shoot’em up’ category. The movie had some of the most outstanding imaginative fu*k physics action sequences that I’ve seen lately. Clearly the director and the writers hate physics just like me! The movie is highly creative and funny. Watch out for the scenes like the one where Gibson smacks across the face of his friend with the key board, the ATM scene, all the action, the final sequence etc. James Mcavoy played his role like how he is supposed to. Morgan Freeman does a fair job. Angelina looks, shoots, behaves, walks, talks like Angelina [no complaints]. Direction is good (sorry forgot his name. sounded something like Tottenham hotspurs striker Berbetov)

Angelina’s childhood story about the effects of not killing the person who’s name is on the list …all the double crossing… more than enough training sequences … star wars darth vader – skywalker stuff etc, this no holds barred action kinda movie didn’t exactly need these things. I am not saying these are bad but the movie would’ve been spectacular without these things. The smart visual humor and action scenes should be experienced first hand .

I had no idea about the movie whatsoever. Probably that’s why I like this movie so much now. I went to see the trailer of THE DARK KNIGHT on big screen. That’s the only reason I went to see ‘wanted’. Was I disappointed at all at the end of the day? Yes… because they didn’t screen the TDK trailer. Regarding ‘wanted’…no regrets. I loved it.

RATING : 8/10

P.S: I don’t know why this movie is called Wanted. I would’ve called it Bend the bullets like Beckham! Or Physics Suc*s or Screw scientists.

P.S 2: I also saw HANCOCK and YOU DON’T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN last Friday but I got no time to write reviews for those two movies this week because I’ve decided to think about nothing but TDK from now on till I see the movie.

P.S 3: There are still 5 more days for TDK. Why can’t the friggin earth rotate 5 times in an hour and take me to Friday? I guess that sudden acceleration might alter the gravitational force and could cause the collapse of our entire galaxy! NOW DO YOU SEE WHY I HATE PHYSICS???

P.S 4: PS4 is written just to confirm that P.S does not refer to Play Station gaming console!!

WHY SO SERIOUS???

REVIEW: JAANE TU.. YA JAANE NA

So when do you know its love?? . . . 2 hours and 20 mins after the movie starts. Yeah but we knew all along! JAANE TU YA JAANE NA is the latest offering from Aamir Khan productions. Its about two close two friends who realize that they love each other when they are with someone else. Screwing up the emotions of few innocent characters and jealousy ensues.

The story of two friends in love with each other who doesn’t realize it until one of them is with someone else is probably the oldest plot in the movie industry. But somehow Abbas makes us leave the movie hall with a smile on our face.

Jai singh rathod and Aditi are two close friends… so close that even their parents think that it is love and wants the pair to marry each other. But no, the two say that they are just friends and to prove the point they decide to help each other out in finding the perfect pair to each other. Enter Meghna… who falls inlove with Jai and Sushanth who is a family friend of Aditi who as expected falls for Aditi. It is then the two friends realize that they love each other. As expected poor Meghna and Sushant are sent out of their lives and the movie.

This movie has nothing new to share but the script has enough little that’ll keep you engaged. Like Jai’s non violence… Aditi’s charm… Amar singh Rathod… The two Brothers from Rajasthan… The zorro…etc. I am not going to reveal all the things that I felt were great about the movie because it’ll ruin your experience.

But watch out for scenes like the one where Jai confesses to meghna …Jai at Sushant’s residence before the climax… The last horse ride…The brothers and Jai in jail etc. Imran makes a debut in a role that doesn’t really need him to struggle with lot of emotions. He does a good job and the guy is all natural in comedy. Genelia D’Souza performs her role with flair. Charming and energetic. All their friends are ok so are the parents. The talking portrait was cool. The inspector is fine.

The movie mainly suffers from the narration which is just like Chalte Chalte movie. Honestly we could’ve done without Jiggy’s girlfriend getting so excited [in other words getting on my nerves] and involved in the narrated story. The first half goes ok with quite a few laughs. The second half troubled me a lot with the movie going nowhere even when it is going somewhere ...it is predictable till the finale. The movie was outstanding right from the point where Jai goes to Sushant’s house. The movie ends in airport like most movies of this genre but only the concept was bad but the execution was funny enough to forgive that. The last 25 mins of the movie was one of the highest plus points of the movie.

Story and the script had nothing new to offer but writer director Abbas has few concepts that bring laughs and enjoyment. Music is one of the biggest plus for the movie. A.R. Rehman… when will he do something bad?? The girl as Meghna looked pretty but why on earth should those characters should always be such stupids?? When they were playing what’s this? Game I was sitting in the theatre and asking the same question… What’s this???

Apart from the predictable plot and few boring scenes that involve the old crap of jealousy the movie was enjoyable for the rest in parts and I recommend that everyone should give it a try. Considering the fact that this movie has opposition from a movie that Even George Lucas will be proud of (Lovestory 2050) I think people have no other choice than watching jaane tu ya jaane na

RATING : 6/10

- V

P.S : ‘Kabhi kabhi Aditi’ was a great song… but was that song sung because of a dead cat or was it just my nightmare?? No… they did sing it because Aditi’s cat was dead.

REVIEW : THE HAPPENING

We are screwing up the planet and Mother Nature is teaching us a lesson the hard way. This is what M.N.Shyamalan’s latest offering ‘THE HAPPENING’ says with the help of an event happning in north eastern part of the U.S.A. We travel along with Mark Wahlberg and the blue-eyed Zooey Dascanel as they try to survive this happening event.

The movie didn’t disappoint me at all. Surprised? Me too. After all those bad reviews that I read for a week … I went to the movie thinking that the movie would be bad. No… the movie is not bad as everyone is claiming. In fact I thought it was actually good. An event is happening in which everyone acts weirdly and eventually commits violent (but innovative) suicides!!!

Mark and his wife Zooey along with their friend and his daughter Jessie, leaves Philadelphia. The event then happens in Philadelphia too and lot of other places in North eastern USA. Situations force them to form groups in the middle of no where with a bunch of other survivors, take care of Jessie and survive this happening event.

The movie has some cool scenes throughout the movie. This is M.N.Shyamalan’s first R rated flick and he has made it a real R rated movie. The movie has some violently innovative suicides scenes. They give you the necessary thrills and chills. There are scenes that startle you even though you know that it is going to happen. The movie was good for most parts.

Mark and Zooey both were not good in the opening scenes but they became better as the movie progressed. Their performances in the later part of the movie took care of the some dull moments in the movie. Mrs. Jones’ character looks unnecessary but some scenes involving her are outstanding. Jessie, the little girl was good. The relationship between the lead pair was cute. Watch out for the scene where Zooey is about to deliver the news that she’s pregnant… this is what the first part of the movie lacked. The places where performances were down… the script took care and vise-versa.

Tak Fujimoto [cinematography] was wonderful. James Newton Howard’s musical score was good. Visual effects were good and most actors performed their role very well.

This review wouldn’t be over without talking about M.N.Shyamalan. The writer- director once again comes up with his kind of a movie. Visually the film is outstanding. The movie has enough thrills to keep you engaged. Regarding the plot, yes it was ridiculous. Algae release toxins to kill some predators in the ocean and that concept is brought to land. MNS in all his movies takes you into a world of his own. If you go with him you’ll enjoy else you would be laughing at the plot. Innovativeness is found all around the movie whether the suicides or the chase sequences between humans and winds or Mark talking to trees.

You can see MNS’ creativeness in many places. Like the movie Unbreakable in which when Bruce Willis finds out that he is the person who is supposed to maintain our planet taking care of the scum… a bad guy walks through a door. The board saying “MAINTANENCE” found on the door is focused. Similarly in this movie… when Mark starts believing the plant theory and thinks that we screwed up the planet, we come across a board near a model home with the words “YOU DESREVE THIS”. Genius. I wonder how can someone who concentrates on such details failed to see the mic inside the frame on more than one occasion. I was disappointed with that.

On the minus side, the plot and the pace of the movie will get on your nerves if you dont give a damn about what happens in the screen. The reason given for the happening event was also weird. But they do say that there are forces beyond our understanding. so ok why shouldn’t mother nature torture us??

This movie is not The sixth sense or signs or unbreakable. But this is good in its own way. You can’t make a classic every time you make a movie. The biggest problem of MNS is that 6th sense was his first movie. That is one of the best movie that you’ll get to see hence people expect movies of the same stature from him on his every outing which is the next best thing to impossible. His career is not perishing. When some one makes his own way and is stuck up on originality he is bound to have some ups and downs in his career.

THIS MOVIE IS DEFINTELY NOT A PART OF THE DOWNS OF HIS CAREER.

RATING : 7/10

P.S: The movie ends with the event beginning to happen in some other country. May be he should make a sequel called ‘the happening after the first happening happened’. The title may not make any sense but hey I am just trying to use the various forms of the word HAPPEN as much as possible in this review!!!

Review: The Happening

Why did I see this Movie: We all love M Night don't we????

Critique: I have always liked M Night as a director. He may be a lousy actor but let’s face it, we all loved Signs and Sixth Sense. In his new outing "The Happening" he has made his most simple film to date. The plot is non existent and whatever we can make out for one is still simpler.

Plants emit a toxin that makes people commit suicides. Violent suicides. Now that is a simple plot isn’t it? Now the first sequence set in New York is quite effective and makes you expect the rest. From that point on it proceeds in a snail pace (Not that I am complaining) until the point where they form a group in the middle of nowhere. Then on the movie moves in an even slower pace

But that’s what one expects from Manoj. None of films were fast moving or had amazing and exciting moments all along. They just come along a slow plot and here it’s still the same. The speed of the film was never a problem for me, coz I felt that it kept me interested the whole time.

Mark Wahlberg did a good job in the role of the science teacher. He was convincing most of the time in a role where there is not much to do. The leading lady Zooey has more scope to act than Mark and has done a decent job. Their relationship was cute.

There are no twists in the film that perhaps is the only twist!!!

The End: Overall I enjoyed this film, not because I like Manoj, but because this is a pretty decent film. The Suicides are chilling and gives you creeps in more than one place. The film was good and only thing missing was a cameo by M Night.

Rating: 7/10

One last thing: This may not be as good as Sixth Sense or Signs, but then again you have to understand you can’t make a masterpiece in everyone of your films. Especially, when all your work is 100% original and is not adapted or inspired.

REVIEW

DASAVATHARAM

Is everything that happens in this world is planned by God (a part of his design)? Or is there something called coincidence?? Dasavatharam puts forth this question and cleverly avoids answering it and asks us to make our own decision. The movie starts off in an arena where Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister of India and G.W.Bush are sitting side by side!!! Dr.Govindh starts narrating the story stating that it is important to know a lot of things to understand this story completely…

12th century. Nambi follows Lord Vishnu but the king wants everyone to follow Lord Shiva. In this battle of beliefs King wins and kills Nambi by dropping him into the ocean along with a Vishnu statue. Nambi’s wife kills herself in the temple.

2004. Govindh explains to his boss after a minor accident, the effect of the new BIO-WMD and the need to shut down the project. His boss feels otherwise and decides to sell it for a huge sum of money. Hence our hero is forced to steal it from there. What follows is his adventure in which circumstances force him to meet Andaal (Asin) and meet 8 other kamals each with thier own issues.
A lot of Chaos theory… sorry chaos ensues!!!

This entire 3 hrs is belongs to Kamal. He is there in every frame of the movie in one character or the other (except for the opening scene of 12th century… but he wrote this movie remember??!!? Hence technically he is THERE). Out of the 10 characters played by kamal, Rangarajan nambi (12th century), Govindh (hero), Fletcher (Ex-CIA), Balram Naidu (Telegu speaking Indian Intelligence officer) stands out because of characterizations. The other characters are not well written. Although they have their fair share of moments, they just fail to strike a chord. Pooragavan’s (black Kamal) character fights against soil being stolen. His make-up looks great but one could not say the same about the role. The singer Avtar (Punjabi Kamal) is there to provide drama and sentiment. Kamal as the Old lady has performed well. The Tall Muslim Kamal provides a few laughs. The Japanese Kamal does nothing in the movie except in the last sequence. Finally Kamal as George W Bush tries to depict the real character of Bush (funnily stupid).

Watch out for the scenes where Bush asks whether he could drop a nuclear bomb on the virus, or where Fletcher gives the finger to the security camera, or Nambi chanting Om Namo Narayana . These are some of the scenes that stay in your mind. The movie should’ve had more of these.

Asin looks pretty and does nothing. Mallika is there in the movie for the obvious reasons and does her job. There ain’t lot of other cast to talk about since all important characters relevant to the story are played by the same man!!

Then there is the technical aspect of the film. Cinematography is good. Music by Himesh is fine. CGI looks awkward in some places but scenes involving different kamals in same frame are done brilliantly. The tsunami scene which is of great importance in the movie looks OK. I’ve heard that creating CGI involving water is the toughest job for any graphics team. The only movie to have done a good job with water effects is The Day After Tomorrow. You can see a couple of ideas lifted directly from TDAT. The Statue of Liberty is replaced by Thiruvallur Statue and the Central library is replaced by a Mosque (Water did behave in front of Mosque exactly like it did in front of the library). There are some smart dialogues in the movie which is of typical kamal style. K.S. Ravikumar does a decent job as the director of the movie.

The film ends with the song ‘Ulaga Nayagane’. You get to see the effort and hard work the actor had to put into these characters. I cannot help but think if kamal had put half the effort he had put in the make up and acting into the script department the movie would’ve been outstanding. Now it looks like a 3 hour trailer of what kamal can do as an actor rather than as a movie!!

This film shows us what a brilliant actor Kamal Hasaan is. Kamal who has succeeded in this movie as an actor has fell way too short of expectations in the writing department. You can see this movie for Kamal the actor… but I think one has to wait for ‘Marmayogi’ to see him as a writer.

RATING: 6/10

P.S : It is quite interesting that if we rearrange the letters from GOVINDH we get my name with Initial!!!! Co-incidence?? Or Divine power?? Now I am freaked out!!!!!!

Review

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM

This movie stars Jackie Chan & Jet Li together for the first time! This alone is enough to make people who have the slightest idea of who the above mentioned two are very much interested in this movie.

This movie is about a boy who turns into a man. It is about how this kung fu loving boy fights back against some bully boys in his place. What turns this boy into a hero is an adventure… The adventure where King Monkey has been turned into a statue by an evil emperor and only when a golden rod breaks the statue, The King will come back to life. As expected the person who gets that rod is our boy.
Adventure in ancient magical East Asia ensues…

Lets get to the point. I am a huge Jackie fan so I generally don’t give a lot of South Harmon Institute of Technology about the story. As long as Jackie gets enough screen time, I am ok with it. Yes… fortunately both the legends get lot screen time.

Jackie stars as this drunken Immortal guy and Jet Li as a Monk. These two give our hero some Kung fu lessons and prepare him to take the rod to the King monkey. A girl called sparrow whose parents were murdered by the evil king, joins this team to take revenge on the evil king.

This movie is all about Jackie and Jet Li and they don’t disappoint you even a bit. You also get to see an action sequence between these two, as the two legends battle each other for the rod. To see Jackie & Jet Li fight it out is enough to get your money worth!! There are enough of action sequences, humor (rain in the desert rocks!!), CG, Jackie and Jet Li for you to love this movie.

Jackie as usual is outstanding as the drunken immortal. I don’t think there’s anyone as charming and strong and funny as Mr. Chan when it comes to movies. Jet Li is amazing too… but his performance as the supposedly funny king monkey is not great. May be being funny is not Jet Li’s thing!! The chemistry between these two is great. Look out for their reaction when the boy tells them about Bruce Lee… simply outstanding. The protagonist is cool and the girl as sparrow is good. The evil team is also good. The final sequence where the boy Kung Fu s his enemies is greatly shot. Directed by Rob Minkoff(Stuart little) this movie would be great fun for kids too.

All in all not a great movie but when Jackie & Jet Li stars in the same movie… You have to see it!!!!!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull

Why did I see this Movie: INDY!!!!!!!!! That’s why. I went on the first day the movie got released in India (a sad 1 week after US release). I have always loved the original 3 flicks. They were and are arguably the best adventure films ever made. One just wonders how 3 guys in 60s can come up with something of the same magnitude.

Critique: Now that’s a movie. A real action adventure movie. Many might say this is not as good as Raiders or the last crusade, but to hell with them. This is a good movie and that’s the bottom line.

I am not going to get into the storyline of this film feeling that one needs to see it himself. Much of film is just about how good Ford manages to reprise a brilliant and charming character like Indy. And the truth is he is still as charming as he was 19 years ago. He carries off this role just as always with charm and humor. One just feels anguish that this film was not made 10 years ago. Shia LaBeouf as Mutt Williams is doing a Sean Connery from the crusade. His relationship with Indy is absolutely hilarious to watch. Shia proves once again that he is a good actor and he as Mutt is, if not better, as good as Sean Connery as Indy’s partner.

The stunts in the movie are brilliant. The vehicle chase sequence in the Amazon is just too good. It’s absolutely amazing to watch. The sword fight was perhaps the best scene in that fight. Also the warehouse fight is real good. Real Indy.
Much has to be said about the technical aspects of the film. The production design and special effects are out of this world. Two scenes made me feel the same way I felt when Rocky knocked out his opponents; I felt the hair in my neck raise. First when Indy climbs and sees the "m" cloud after the explosion and the other is in the last scene when "The Rocks are hanging in the SKY”. They made me feel that Indy is back and is just as good as before.

The script writer David Koepp has done a good job with the script. It is just typical Indiana Jones script. Direction is top notch just as you expect him to be. Not his best film by far, but still a good one.
I had no major problems with the films. Only thing was a few scenes were a bit cheesy. Like the Tarzan stunt by Mutt.

The End: Overall this is a pretty good adventure flick. Perhaps the best since “The last crusade”. Or it may have been the Indy effect. Anyways I enjoyed the movie big time and even if you any of the old Indy movies, you will love this.

INDY 4

REVIEW:

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

Well, the fourth adventure of Dr.Jones is finally here... 19 years after his third adventure. Usually when a sequel of a movie franchise releases 19 years after its predecessor people won’t be very keen but when it brings the legendary character of Indiana Jones back on screen with ‘the beard’ behind the camera and the brain behind star wars producing it, it becomes the most expected movie of the year.

Its 1957. Dr.Jones is taken to a secret military base (the place where the Ark of the Covenant is kept) by Russian agents led by Cate Blanchett to take a box from the storage facility .Dr.Jones’ life is in danger so is the life of his friends… adventure begins… again.

In this review, we are not going to go too deep into the story…Life of Dr.Jones’ friends are online as he must find a crystal skull and take it to a place (the name of which only archeologists know and only few of them believe its existence). A place made of gold. The person who replaces the skull in that mysterious place will control the powers of the skull. If you had guessed that Cate Blanchett is the one who wants it done… don’t consider yourself smart. Even kids can get this right.

Throw in UFOs , great action sequences, funny sequences, triple agents, INDY’s theme music, atomic explosions and of course the directorial genius ness of Mr.Spielberg what you get is a movie that is worth the wait of the 19 years. The movie is taken completely to another level by the performances of the leads. The chemistry between Harrison and Shia is pure fun. Shia who we all know has a great potential has delivered big time. Harrison & Shia are a treat to watch.

Spielberg has once again proved why he is one of the best directors of all time. His imaginations and visualizations are simply outstanding. This movie has some of the most memorable sequences in recent times. CG is great. Action sequences are engaging and extremely funny (most of them).

This movie is like an encyclopedia of adventure genre films. Great locations, funny sequences, great lines, tribes, great CG & action sequences, good performances and yeah… a plot interesting enough to keep you hooked throughout the movie!! Honestly if you ask me these are the stuff Indiana Jones series is all about.

A MUST WATCH FOR ALL TRUE MOVIE FANS…

Welcome

A few movie buffs put their hands and heads together to create this blog. This will contain reviews for both old and new movies. So look for updates............
